Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
